Working as part of the Engineering & Maintenance Team you will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and the Maintenance Team to ensure all equipment is correctly maintained, reporting any defects or maintenance requirements as well as conducting weekly checks and reports. Ensure all relevant equipment is suitably lubricated, excess lubricant and any possible contaminant is removed. You will also play a critical role in developing the stock control systems.

The Maintenance Assistant role is a key member of the Engineering & Maintenance Team and performs a critical function within the business.

Responsibilities



Complete day to day checks on lubrication levels and replenish to a suitable schedule to avoid machine stoppages Complete day to day checks on grease pipes and hoses for damage/leaks or potential failures (replace /report any items found) Degrease and clean down machines to prescribed schedule Check for items needing service -i.e. balance cylinders, damaged guarding, damaged air fittings cables and so on Support the TPM schedule as required, raising any concerns or identified actions and completing logs Carry out weekly safety checks on roller nip guards Carry out visual weekly checks for possible product contamination and update logs Carry out any periodic checks as requested by QSE not covered by daily press sign off sheets Provide general support for cleaning duties on shop floor equipment Assist in projects and general equipment and factory repairs as competent to do so, may involve visits to other local premises As well as general maintenance activities, you will play a key role in developing the systems for stock control and the organisation of spare parts for efficiently finding the right parts You will be responsible for developing a database of spare parts and linking it with the MaintainX maintenance management software Ensure and maintain a safe working environment by adherence to HSE requirements Complete Hazard Tags where required and competent to do so Support continuous improvement activities and initiatives Ensure housekeeping within work area is maintained at the highest-level ensuring adherence to BRCaccreditation and standards at all times To carry out or assist with any duties as deemed necessary in connection with the business

Knowledge/Skills



Full UK Driving Licence, as will need to be FLT Trained Previous experience of working with mechanical systems Understanding of H&S requirements and key principles Understanding of COSHH Requirements Able to read and interpret documents i.e., Safety Rules, Operating instructions Good communication skills Able to work as part of a team Flexible approach in order to meet business and departmental requirements Excellent time management skills Able to work on own initiative and manage own priorities and time constraints Hold relevant FLT Licences MEWP Press regulations trained Manufacturing environment background
