We are seeking to appoint a kind, organised and reliable

Maintenance Assistant

to join our team. The successful candidate will support the Maintenance Manager on the upkeep of the buildings, equipment and fixtures, ensuring they are maintained in good, safe working order, compliant with safety regulations, with records kept up to date. You will also support the maintenance of the accommodation so that it remains clean, safe and attractive at all times.


This is a

30 hour contract

with a competitive salary of 12.60 per hour. Shift times are

Monday to Friday 0900 - 1700

, with flexibility required to meet the needs of the business.

Role Responsibilities



Carry out regular inspections throughout the Home and report any maintenance issues identified. Assist with actioning maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager/Home Manager. Report defects requiring specialist attention in a timely manner. Carry out domestic painting, decorating and wallpapering according to an agreed schedule, ensuring bedrooms are prepared to a good standard for new admissions. Complete minor joinery and basic plumbing tasks where appropriate. Undertake regular room checks to identify defects and record findings in the maintenance log book. Support the prioritisation and completion of maintenance tasks as required by the Management team. Ensure compliance documentation is kept up to date. Assist with Health & Safety and Fire Safety checks, drills and training as required. Support Legionella testing in liaison with external consultants. Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of adults you come into contact with.

Skills and Experience Required



Experience in basic plumbing, electrical, joinery or gardening work is essential. Specialist skills in a building trade are desirable but not essential. Ability to use basic tools and operate equipment safely. Full clean driving licence required. Reliable, approachable, and able to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues. Previous experience within a care home or similar environment is preferable.
