The Role



We are currently looking for an experienced Maintenance Support/Factory Labourer (Factory Based) with a Mechanical bias to join our team based in the south side of Glasgow.

The role is predominantly a Monday to Friday days-based role with some out of hours work required to meet business needs should it arise. The successful candidate will be required to assist in maintaining plant, machinery, and ancillary equipment to the highest possible standards, efficiently and safely, and in line with the company health & safety, energy, and environmental standards.

Role Description



A support role where a good knowledge and experience of working around factory machinery is important. The successful candidate's role will be to support and assist all aspects of the Maintenance Team. Assist with Preventative Maintenance services as well as Maintenance Projects work to minimise downtime and maximise machine efficiency. This includes ordering and organising the storing of parts relative to all Maintenance works i.e., Reactive Breakdowns, Machine Services and Project Work. Working in partnership with all departments within the factory. Support with machine installation, relocation and decommission projects. Assist with the repair and maintenance of machinery in both a reactive as well as a planned-out manner, to always ensure optimum production capacity. Ensure that any unresolved technical problems are escalated to the Maintenance Manager in a timely fashion. Assist with Production facility improvements, as and when required. Maintain a detailed knowledge of all equipment within the plant and facilities, keeping abreast of any additions to plant and improvement updates to machinery. Input all data and continually update our Production Control System and Asset Manager software on PC. Ensure all plant and machinery are kept in a safe, good working order and excellent housekeeping standards are maintained. Working within a continuous improvement 6S environment and having a real input into making sure our work areas and stores are kept in a well organised, tidy manner. Co-ordinate and work in tandem with contractors onsite as and when required, issuing and recording the Permits to Work system. Where possible, suggest ways of improving methods and processes. All works carried out with Health & Safety at the forefront of planning.

Essential Qualifications and Experience



Proven background of knowledge and experience of machinery in a factory/workshop environment. This includes relevant qualifications. Be an effective and confident communicator. Computer literate. Able to work overtime if required, to suit the needs of the business. Be a self-starter and maximise personal effectiveness by way of continuous improvement.

Desirable Qualities & Experience



Aerospace/Manufacturing environment experience. Knowledge & working experience on and around CNC machinery, lathes, mills, grinders, or 5-axis machinery. Comfortable working on both electrical and mechanical maintenance.
