We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join us here at our Culpitt and Sugarfayre sites, both based in Ashington.
Reporting into the Head of Health & Safety, Engineering and Projects, the Maintenance Engineer will have the following key responsibilities:
Attend and resolve equipment breakdowns in a timely manner.
Follow and improve preventative maintenance plans with the aim of reducing unplanned down time.
Ensure the PPM schedule is adhered to and completed as required.
Ensure that all maintenance work is recorded and carried out in a timely manner.
Support root cause investigations for repetitive breakdowns and implement permanent solutions.
Be involved in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement activities.
Assist with relevant project work where engineering involvement is required.
Ensure line efficiency is improved through timely repair, maintenance and improvement of equipment.
Maintain the building and facilities in good order.
Work with other Engineers as workload and complexity of work dictates.
Skills, knowledge & experience:
Proven experience working in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
Strong methodical approach to problem solving.
Be structured, well organised and able to co-ordinate a wide range of different tasks concurrently.
Be pro-active and able to use your initiative.
Work well in a team or as an individual.
Have basic knowledge of windows office programs.
Be able to prioritise safety above anything else.
Be an effective communicator and comfortable liaising with a variety of personal ranging from production operatives to Heads of departments and contractors.
Be personable and pleasant to staff and visitors and when representing the company offsite.
Desirable, but not necessary:
City & Guilds 18th Edition or a recognisable electrical qualification.
Milling and turning experience.
Building maintenance experience.
Working Conditions:
Factory and warehouse environments.
Will involve working in air-conditioned or ambient areas, internally and externally.
Fast-paced environment with strict hygiene standards.
Designated Engineering workshops.
Schedule:
Hours of work negotiable Monday to Friday (initially 8am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 1pm Friday)
39 hours per week
Site operates 7 days a week so there is the possibility of weekend call-outs (key plant only, call-out bonus paid in December each year).
Experience:
Previous experience in a similar role required.

In person at our Ashington factories (Jubilee Industrial Estate and Wansbeck Business Park).
Salary:
45,285 per annum paid monthly.
