Job Description

Fridays Ltd are looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Shift Engineer working on a 4on 4off (12 hours per shift) shift pattern who will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of plant equipment on a food packing site, ensuring site operations run efficiently and safely. The successful candidate will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults, and support operational improvements.

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine inspections to ensure all plant equipment operates effectively. Perform diagnostic work and fault finding on a range of industrial machinery, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, and valves. Conduct reactive maintenance and respond to breakdowns to minimise operational downtime. Fitting new parts. Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns. Examine or carry out tasks on broken parts and identify defective parts or give recommendations on repair requirements. Application of lubricants or other materials to machines or their parts as well as other equipment. Put machine parts together correctly after accomplishing maintenance and repair work Respond in a timely manner to all maintenance requests and concerns raised by other department and team members according to the company process. Report all potential accidents and machine make sure that any accidents are recorded in the appropriate place and in line with company procedures. Supporting the Hygiene team on the dismantling and replacing of machine parts or equipment during the cleaning window. Conduct pre - production machinery and equipment start - ups. The role involves manual handling and the ability to withstand working in a Packing Centre conditions on a daily basis Manage contractors and third-party service providers when required, ensuring all work meets site standards. Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and compliance documentation. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the modernisation of processes. Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and attend necessary training. Ensure compliance with LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) procedures for safe mechanical and electrical isolation's. Assist with additional duties as required by the management team.

Person Specification - Essential Criteria:



Demonstrable mechanical experience in plant/Production based operations Candidate to have completed a recognised Apprenticeship in Mechanical engineering Previous experience working on Air systems and pneumatic essential Previous experience working on electrical equipment is advantageous Recognised engineering apprenticeship trained. Ability to replace shafts, seals, bearings, pipework, fittings, and couplings. Experience of valve replacements and basic pneumatic. Knowledge of LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) systems for mechanical and electrical isolation's. Experience working in an industrial, food processing, or waste management environment. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision. Good communication skills and ability to liaise professionally with colleagues and contractors. If required, comfortable working at height and within plant-based environments. Basic IT skills for maintenance reporting and record-keeping. Flexible approach to shift work, including nights (when required) and weekends.

Desirable Criteria:



Dual-skilled in both mechanical and electrical maintenance. Experience working with automation systems. Prior involvement in continuous improvement and efficiency projects.
