Role Summary



Days of Employment:

Normal shift pattern will be any 5 working days from 7.

Working Hours:

8.5 hours per day. This includes a 30-minute unpaid break.

Normal Working Hours:

Variable shift pattern consisting of the following shifts:

Shift 1: 0600-1430hrs Shift 2: 1000-1830hrs Shift 3: 1400-2230hrs

Contracted Hours:

40 hours per week.

Maintenance Engineer

to join our dedicated and inspirational team.

As a multiskilled maintenance engineer, you will be accountable for the electrical and mechanical diagnosis, analysis, and repair of our nutraceutical manufacturing and packaging processing equipment.

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of all equipment and facilities within the production environment; this involves performing both preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities



Maintenance and Repair:



Installing, maintaining, and repairing production machinery and plant equipment. This includes tasks like, disassembling and reassembling machinery, cleaning and lubricating equipment, and repairing or replacing parts.

Troubleshooting:



Prompt diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues to minimise downtime.

Preventative Maintenance:



Conducting routine maintenance checks and servicing equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.

Safety and Compliance:



Ensuring compliance with company Human Resources, Health & Safety, Food Safety, Quality, and Hygiene policies and procedures; this may involve monitoring machine settings for product safety and supporting internal audits of standards.

Record Keeping:



Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, parts inventory, equipment logs, and job cards.

Collaboration:



Working in collaboration with the engineering and production teams to ensure efficient operation of all product manufacturing and packaging equipment. Keep team members informed of ongoing projects, breakdown issues, temporary repairs, and modifications, providing detailed handovers at the end of each shift. Foster a proactive and harmonious team culture by providing support, assistance, advice, or specific skills and knowledge. Undertaking of relevant training courses, including Company Induction, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, and Food Safety training.

Continuous Improvement:



Participating in the development of new products and processes and contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the engineering department. Monitoring production Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and work to improve these metrics.

Skills/Experience/Qualifications



The role of

Maintenance Engineer

is multifaceted and requires both industry-specific qualifications and management abilities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Formal Education:



A minimum of Level 3 NVQ Diploma in an Engineering pathway (Electrical & Mechanical), multi-skilled apprenticeship or equivalent. Ideally, 17th or 18th Edition qualification for electrical installations.

Experience



Experience in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, and Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV). Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment. Detailed knowledge of manufacturing equipment and/or processes and of the safety requirements in the maintenance and repair of machinery used in nutraceutical product processing (blenders and mixers, tablet presses, capsule dosing, tablet coating, gummies, softgels, capping, blister packaging, labelling, metal detection). Understanding of food manufacturing legislation & Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings. Excellent computer literacy and knowledge ERP/MS applications.
