Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team in the UK. To maintain / develop and improve the existing manufacturing platforms and facilities for the Ames Companies UK at Pollington - a hands-on role focussed on maintaining and optimising existing equipment, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions to improve the safety, quality, cost performance of the business.
Responsibilities
Provide hands-on support for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical equipment and systems. Knowledge of electrical system preferred but not essential.
Diagnose root causes of failures and develop long-term corrective solutions.
Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. Utilising company systems to record and track preventative processes and completion.
Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve equipment performance, efficiency, and safety.
Development of self and team to improve skills and knowledge of Process development and engineering and self-sufficiency of team.
Design, plan, and implement mechanical improvements and upgrades.
Collaborate with production, operations, and wider team to optimise processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, modifications, and improvements. Update and utilise company CMMS system to record work completed, actions and history - utilise system to provide reports of performance and local KPIs.
Operate within budgets, utilise company ERP systems to track orders and receipts.
Engage company OEM providers for support and development of plant, evaluating new opportunities and ensure best cost solutions.
Engage with wider project ownership for develop and plant and facilities.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification (HND/HNC acceptable with relevant experience).
Proven experience in mechanical maintenance roles, preferably within manufacturing, processing, or processing industry.
Strong understanding of mechanical drives, rotating equipment, and process engineering principles.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Hands-on experience with fault finding, repair, and reliability engineering.
Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS) is desirable.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a small, multi-skilled team environment.
