D & M Design & Fabrication Ltd is a successful and fast paced sheet metal subcontract business based in Kirkby Malzeard, near Ripon (HG4 3QE). We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Person to join our team in a dynamic fabrication workshop environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and equipment, conducting preventive maintenance, and addressing repair needs promptly to minimise downtime. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential issues, implementing solutions, and maintaining a safe working environment. DUE TO OUR RURAL LOCATION, YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN TRANSPORT AND UK DRIVING LICENCE.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify and resolve issues before they escalate, including Laser cutting machine, CNC press brakes, deburring machines, pillar drills, milling machine, welders, metal saw, rollers, pipe notcher, compressors, LEVS, airlines, extraction units. Training will be given on the specific maintenance requirements for these machines.
Carry out daily cleaning of machines and safety checks, documenting the checks and any defects/ repairs carried out. Training will be provided on this.
Collaborate with production teams to address maintenance needs that impact production schedules.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
Assess and repair tools that have been quarantined due to a defect.
Assist with performing Health and Safety checks, such as fire alarm tests, fire extinguisher checks, emergency light checks, ladder checks.
It is essential to take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and that of others in the workplace during the maintenance process.
Assist with general workshop/ site maintenance as required e.g. emptying bins, using the cardboard compacting machine, painting, tidying up the yard/ workshop, cleaning fire escapes.
Assist with the company PAT testing process.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
Good general education including English and Maths.
Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Experience working with electrics would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Some maintenance may be required out of standard work hours (evenings/ weekends). Overtime or flexible hours available for this.
Working to deadlines is essential. Must be able to prioritise workload and adapt positively and efficiently to last minute changes.
Good level of fitness is needed as the job will involve some lifting and manual handling.
Strong team player.
Ability to inspect own work and demonstrate honesty to report any quality issues.
Excellent communication and organisation skills.
Very strong eye for detail, to finish parts to an immaculate standard.
Must
be punctual and reliable.
Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime when required.
Due to our rural location you must hold a valid driving licence and have your own transport.
