H F Produce Ltd based at Antony near Torpoint supplies a range of washed, peeled and prepared vegetables into manufacturing bakeries both large and small as well as food service wholesalers in the South West. Our main lines are potatoes, onions and swede along with a variety of other vegetables prepared to meet specific customer requirements.
The business has a number of long standing customers including some major names and is currently undergoing a significant investment programme to increase both capacity and efficiency.
As part of the business development and growth we are looking to appoint a Maintenance Engineer to join the team.
This is a hands-on role carrying out both preventive and reactive maintenance on various food production machinery equipment. In addition, there will be a requirement to carry out general site & fabric maintenance.
You will play a crucial part in the continued success of the site. With increased orders and expansion in place, this role is essential to the smooth running of the business and ensuring that standards of production are upheld.
The key areas of responsibility will be:
To conduct planned preventative maintenance on machinery/equipment and be responsible for the scheduling of this.
To carry out general building and site maintenance as required.
To attend to all equipment breakdown repairs with a matter of urgency.
To carry out installation of any new production equipment or to assist external contractors with this when required.
Provide support and supervision, as necessary, for external contractors working on the premises.
To support, and anticipate in, continuous improvement activities as required within all areas of the business.
Adhering to and maintaining all site health and safety and food safety/hygiene requirements.
Experience required:
Relevant electrical knowledge.
Experience in electrical, compressed air and mechanical fault finding.
Welding and fabrication experience.
Engineering experience
Qualifications relevant to the above.
Beneficial experience:
A manufacturing background.
Knowledge of food production/vegetable handling equipment.
Agricultural equipment experience.
Working hours:
The business produces from Sunday to Friday each week starting at 7am each day. It is anticipated the role will be for a five day week with flexibility required around working hours to meet the maintenance requirements. Some weekend and evening work may be required to ensure production disruption is minimal. We would be prepared to discuss a flexible working arrangement with the successful candidate.
Salary to be agreed with the appointed candidate based on experience.
