We are a rapidly growing activated-carbon business based on a circular economy model and strong technical capabilities, with sites across the UK, Europe and the United States.

Our Immingham team is looking for a fully qualified, mechanically biased Maintenance Manager to oversee the safe, efficient mechanical and electrical maintenance of our industry-leading carbon reactivation facilities.

The Maintenance Manager will lead the management of all maintenance activities, maintenance staff and contractors at the Immingham site, providing the business with representation at a senior management level in the absence of the Plant Manager..

Key responsibilities:



Maintenance



Produce and monitor a robust PPM schedule system. Lead the planning and scheduling of all planned maintenance works. Ensure stock inventories are kept up to date with the flow of stock items. Ordering and processing of required equipment and spares. Ensure all equipment is correctly serviced and records kept as required. Attend and lead breakdown repairs where necessary. Ensure all maintenance tasks performed are correctly logged and tracked on the maintenance system. Identify maintenance improvement areas that will help maximise production. Ensure all works performed are done so under the correct Health & Safety policies, with correct documentation and instruction. Upon completion of maintenance tasks, ensure the system/equipment is safe to be bought back into service. Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure all tasks are performed correctly and potential issues are identified before becoming major problems. Ensure effective communication between Plant Manager, Senior Production Co-Ordinator, Production Supervisor and maintenance staff in order to maximise production availability. Work within the budget requirements.

Health & Safety



Ensure maintenance staff are fully trained on all aspects of the Company's Health & Safety policy and understand the correct way to respond to and report accidents and near misses. Ensure that all staff have the correct training and are proficient in the writing and administering of Permit to Work documents, hazardous permits and gas testing. Ensure the correct Health, Safety and Environment procedures are followed by all Puragen employees and contractors at all times. Ensure Sentinel is updated and reviewed regularly and actions updated as required. Represent the maintenance team in Health & Safety meetings.

Quality



Be aware of and accountable for the quality of maintenance activities and that they are performed to the correct standard. Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure required standards of compliance are being adhered to.

Housekeeping



Set the housekeeping standards in all areas.

Training & compliance



Ensure the site complies with all relevant aspects of the company Quality, Environmental and OH&S policies, and standards (ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001), communicating any non-conformances and solutions. Comply with all requirements of the Environmental policy regarding the correct disposal of waste. Carefully consider any possible quality, OH&S and environmental implications of all decision-making. Lead all maintenance team compliance training, working closely with the Plant Manager and Compliance Manager. Ensure all Risk Assessments and Safe Working procedures are in place and regularly reviewed. Oversee site standards under regulations such as DSEAR, LOLER, PSSR, etc. Ensure all tasks are completed with relevant procedures and documentation. Ensure all maintenance personnel, whether employees or contractors, remain compliant at all times. Lead investigations where necessary for near misses and/or incidents.

People management



Ensure maintenance team is fully staffed and reported absences are covered. Identify opportunities to develop team members, ensuring individuals have the opportunity to strengthen their current skills and learn new ones. Maintain team standards following appropriate Company performance management procedures and leading by example. Take a lead role in the hiring of new staff, working closely with the Plant Manager and Deputy Plant Manager. In the absence of the Plant Manager, take responsibility where required.

Plant/process improvements



Drive process improvements and lead capital projects following Company procedures. Work with the Projects/R&D team to ensure a complete maintenance system and documentation in place prior to hand over.

Communication and reporting



In the Plant Manager's absence, communicate effectively with team members and senior management, reporting to the relevant directors on performance as part of the monthly review and ensuring daily, weekly and monthly performance is communicated appropriately.

We are looking for:



Recognised Apprenticeship qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent, with a City & Guilds mechanical qualification as minimum (additional electrical qualification/experience desirable). IOSH (NEBOSH desirable). Relevant experience in a process engineering role, particularly in a safety critical environment. Proven experience in leading a maintenance team and overseeing projects. A well-organised and thorough individual, with high levels of accuracy. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels and report to senior management when required. Experience in managing and maintaining a budget. Experience with maintenance software systems such as SAP, Q4 etc. High level of self-sufficiency and the ability to work independently. Proactive in problem solving with a continuous improvement mindset.
