The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all hostel facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and compliance. This role focuses on day-to-day maintenance operations, health and safety compliance, and fire safety management across the property.
What will you do?
Oversee and carry out daily maintenance tasks to ensure the building and all facilities remain in good working condition.
Ensure full compliance with all
Health & Safety
and
Fire Safety
regulations, maintaining up-to-date records and documentation.
Conduct regular inspections of the building to identify and resolve maintenance or safety issues promptly.
Ensure that
fire drills
and
fire alarm tests
are carried out regularly and without fail, keeping accurate logs of all tests.
Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and service providers when external repairs or maintenance are required.
Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for equipment and systems.
Ensure all safety equipment (fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, alarms, etc.) is in proper working order.
Support the management team in developing and enforcing health and safety policies.
Respond quickly and effectively to maintenance requests and emergencies.
Maintain a safe and organized maintenance workspace and storage area.
What do we look for?
Health and Safety Level 3 certification (essential)
Fire Safety Level 3 certification (essential)
Proven experience in building maintenance, preferably in a hostel, hotel, or similar environment.
Strong understanding of UK building, fire, and health & safety legislation.
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required for emergencies or inspections.
