We are recruiting for a Maintenance Person to ensure that the care home is maintained to a high standard, is safe for residents, staff and visitors, and complies with all health and safety regulations. The Maintenance Person will carry out regular maintenance tasks, respond to repairs, and liaise with external contractors where necessary.

About The Role



Main Duties and Responsibilities



General Maintenance:



Carry out routine maintenance and repairs throughout the care home, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general upkeep. To maintain and keep tidy the gardens, hedges, shrubs and flower beds. Paint and Decorate walls, ceilings and doors as and when required. Ensure that all maintenance issues reported by staff or residents are recorded and dealt with in a timely manner. Perform regular checks on building systems (e.g., heating, lighting, fire alarms) and log findings.

Health & Safety:



Carry out regular Health & Safety checks, including Fire Alarm tests, Legionella checks, emergency lighting tests, and equipment maintenance logs. Maintain records of all inspections, servicing, and repairs for regulatory compliance (RQIA). Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in a safe manner and adheres to risk assessments and COSHH regulations.

Compliance and Reporting:



Ensure the home remains compliant with current statutory regulations and best practices (e.g. RQIA, HSE, and Environmental Health). Support the Home Manager during inspections and audits relating to maintenance and health & safety. Maintain an asset register and service contracts for key equipment.

Other Duties:



Assist during emergency situations (e.g. power failures, water leaks). Maintain all equipment and tools. Check and maintain wheelchairs, hoists, passenger lifts and trolleys. Participate in training relevant to the role, including safeguarding and infection control.

Required Criteria



Right to live and work in the UK Proven experience in general maintenance work (plumbing, electrical, joinery, etc.) Understanding of health & safety, fire safety, and regulatory compliance Clear verbal and written communication skills Satisfactory Enhanced Access NI check required.

Desired Criteria



Experience of working within a similar sector Relevant Qualification in a building trade.
