Job Description

An excellent opportunity for a Management Accountant to join a not-for-profit independent organisation working in partnership with the NHS based in Farnborough, Hampshire. The role will require the commitment of someone on a full time and permanent basis.
You will have responsibility for the month-end close process and supporting the Financial Controller with a variety of finance responsibilities. Ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of monthly management accounts and year-end audit in line with the company and statutory requirements

Main duties of the job
As a crucial part of the Finance team and reporting into the Financial Controller, your role will be responsible for the delivery of monthly management accounts, bank accounting, credit control, fixed assets, VAT returns, published financial statements, annual external audit, policies & procedures and supporting both Finance Director and Financial Controller with FP&A activities.

North Hampshire Urgent Care Ltd (NHUC) is a Community Benefit Society, working in partnership with the NHS. NHUC provides services through two divisions, Same Day Care (SDC) and TalkPlus.
SDC provides services through the Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) contract which covers the in Hours Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) and Out of Hours (OOH) provision for North Hampshire, North East Hampshire and Farnham (NEHF) and Surrey Heath places which are part of the Hampshire and the Isle of Wight ICB and Frimley ICB respectively. NHUC also provides Urgent Treatment Centres at the front doors of both Basingstoke and Frimley Park Hospitals whilst also holding some smaller contacts supporting Community Hospitals OOH and Flu response. Finally, SDC has a virtual care arm supporting patients at home.
TalkPlus provide NHS Talking Therapies, supporting people with common mental health problems in North East Hampshire and Farnham place. TalkPlus offers a range of treatments to people who are experiencing symptoms of stress, anxiety, low mood, depression, panic, phobias or OCD. TalkPlus has care pathways to provide timely treatment for perinatal and military veteran referrals.

Undertake the following areas of responsibility working with other members of the Finance team as required.

  • Customer invoicing and credit control customers to contract terms.
  • Maintain the Fixed asset register, accounting and physical verification.
  • Month-end close journals for cost transfers, accruals and prepayments
  • Preparation of accurate monthly management accounts on a timely basis.
  • Maintenance of bank accounting and formal monthly reconciliations.
  • Maintenance of balance sheet analyses and control account reconciliations
  • Analysis of monthly cost centre spend against budget, forecast and CIPs - to write commentaries and support forecasting
  • Support the month-end payroll and payments processes.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns to HMRC
  • Prepare draft year-end financial statements for review & audit
  • Work as part of the team to meet the requirements of the external auditors for the annual year-end audit
  • Maintenance of members register
  • Support the preparation of the Annual Report.
  • Develop and maintain finance policies and procedures / process documentation
  • Review and reconcile payroll and pension control accounts in Sage Accounts
