Job Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Management Accountant to join our finance team 3 days per week. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day financial operations of our organisation, ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This position requires an individual with strong leadership skills, extensive accounting knowledge, and the ability to drive process improvements to support the company's financial objectives.

Responsibilities



Develop and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts to ensure liquidity and support financial planning. Review aged debtor reports regularly, chasing overdue invoices and escalating potential issues to senior management. Prepare and process two small and one large payroll per month, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements. Post payroll journals, set up payroll payments, file payroll submissions and maintain accurate payroll records. Submit Amey Payment Applications (HMP Prison Work). Download and file bank statements regularly, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded. Review creditors listing for missing invoices/contracts against DD payments. Ensure all sales invoices are processed and match to external applications. Complete National Statistics online reports accurately and within deadlines. Perform month-end reconciliations and journal postings to ensure accurate financial reporting. Close nominal ledger periods on Xero and ensure all entries are accurate and complete. Prepare and submit P11D and PAYE Settlement returns in compliance with HMRC regulations. Produce monthly Maritime profit statements, providing detailed analysis and insights into financial performance. Providing ad-hoc project support to the wider business.

Experience



Essential:

Proven experience as a Management Accountant or similar role within the financial services sector. ACA, ACCA or CIMA part qualified, or AAT Level 3 qualified. Proficiency in Xero and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables). Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices. Ability to contribute to strategic financial planning, including forecasting, risk management, and resource allocation to support the company's long-term financial goals. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly. Capacity for dealing with high pressure situations. Excellent organisational skills and methodical attention to detail.

Commitment to coaching and supporting team members' professional growth, enhancing overall team performance. Staying updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and competitiveness. Ability to assess financial discrepancies and implement corrective measures effectively.
This is a hybrid role requiring attendance at our London head office for 2 days each month. The salary will be pro rata to a 3 day working week.
