Happy Days Nurseries is a leading childcare provider with over 30 children's day nurseries across the south of England. We are looking for a Management Accountant to join our finance team.
Our ideal Management Accountant will play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making by providing accurate financial information, analysis, and insight. This role is responsible for preparing management accounts, Business Intelligence reporting, forecasting, and performance reporting to ensure financial health and operational efficiency.
What you will be doing:
Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
Preparation, review and distribution of Business Intelligence reports in respect of nursery performance.
Partner with department heads to provide financial insight and support business planning.
Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting and forecasting processes.
Monitor and report on key financial metrics and KPIs.
Conduct cost analysis and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Assist with cash management, including cashflow reporting.
Review of the purchase ledger, ensuring costs are allocated to the correct trading subsidiary and supplier accounts.
Assist with year-end audit and liaise with external auditors.
Acquisitions and Developments
Assist with the integration of accounting systems and processes for newly acquired nurseries.
Acquisition accounting for new nurseries.
Ongoing management accounts for acquired companies/sites.
Recording and monitoring of capex in respect of new sites from organic growth.
Forecasting
Assist with preparation of the annual budget in respect of the trading subsidiaries.
Support with the preparation of rolling forecasts.
Taxation
Preparation of VAT returns.
General
Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
Continuously improve financial processes and systems
Complete government statistical returns.
