The opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic Management Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role you'll be responsible for producing accurate and timely sets of management accounts, including P&Ls, balance sheets, cashflows and associated schedules, for subsidiaries of The Whisky Exchange. You'll work closely with the Financial Controller, and the rest of the Finance team, on year-end activities including the production of full statutory accounts and liaising with the external auditors.
Your unique contribution
Responsible for the delivery of monthly management accounts for the business, ensuring all month-end items are efficiently posted, carrying out monthly reconciliations
Ensure accurate and timely close of quarter/month end and any schedules required
Regularly perform analysis on cost centre reporting to check the coding and posting of supplier invoices into the accounting system for accuracy and consistency
Accurate and timely production of monthly management accounts for all subsidiaries including posting of accruals, prepayments, depreciation and all associated entries
Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations including intercompany
Performing bank (including merchant) reconciliations
Produce reports which support the decision-making process for department heads (inc. Finance) and Pernod Ricard HQ in a timely manner
Support our FP&A Team with annual budgeting and monthly forecast processes
Production of quarterly VAT returns for all subsidiaries, and complete any resulting reconciliation
Upload financials into our Group reporting tool and provide support on any resulting queries
Support the Group tax team by providing data on a timely basis provide support on any resulting queries
Support the streamlining processes of the Transactional Finance and Reporting team, identifying areas for continued improvement wherever possible
Partner with internal stakeholders and budget holders to ensure they are aware of financial results and proactively addressing their queries
Work closely with the wider Finance team with day-to-day transactional processing, bank payments and any other duties to ensure the smooth running of the department as required
Accurate calculation of purchase and sales out retros, as well as marketing income from brands so that it is ready for invoicing by the Sales Ledger team
Your blend of talent
Qualified, nearly qualified, or studying towards a recognised professional accountancy qualification
Previous experience of working as part a busy Finance team
Experience delivering end-to-end month end reporting
Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel (e.g. pivot tables, lookups, modelling)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whist always remaining professional
Strong communicator, excellent verbal, and written communication skills
Demonstrate a tenacious, pragmatic approach to problem solving
Possess commercial and business acumen
Demonstrate a proactive and 'can do' attitude
Planning and organising own workload and possess the ability to multi-task
Excellent time management skills including working to deadlines whilst remaining calm under pressure
Accurate and detail conscious
Desirable:
Experience in e-commerce, retail, or FMCG environments is highly preferred
Experience using accounting packages, such as SAP or Oracle
