The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure excellent customer service, and lead a motivated team. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and a focus on maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
The Barn at Shilstone is a beautifully restored Devon barn serving nostalgic British food cooked over fire, with seasonal sharing dishes and produce from our own kitchen garden. With exposed stone walls, candlelit tables, and relaxed yet confident service, The Barn offers an intimate and memorable dining experience. As Restaurant Manager you will lead the team that makes this possible.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day running of The Barn, including staffing, booking, inventory, and service
Lead, train, and support front and back-of-house staff to deliver a smooth service
Ensure excellent customer service and handle any guest concerns promptly
Monitor food quality and presentation, ensure hygiene, and health & safety standards are met
Create and manage staff schedule whilst overseeing, budgeting, and cost control
Maintain stock levels, manage deliveries, and work with local suppliers and growers.
Drive revenue through promotions, events, and high service standards
Prepare reports on performance and contribute ideas to help achieve business goal
Skills & Experience:
1-2 years' experience in a busy restaurant (preferred but not essential)
Team player who communicates well with all colleagues
Punctual, reliable, and trustworthy
Sense of urgency
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Have a genuine passion for food and beverage
Additional Information:
Your own transport is essential as we are not on any bus routes
Pay & Benefits:
24 hours per week - Friday & Saturday evenings and Sundays 10am-5pm.
14-15 per hour (dependent experience)
