Position Overview

The

Managing Director

will provide strategic, creative, and operational leadership across all aspects of the business -- from product design and supply chain management to sales, marketing, and finance. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this role is responsible for steering PoM through its next phase of growth, strengthening brand identity, profitability, and market reach.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership

Work alongside the CEO to develop and execute PoM's overall business strategy, ensuring alignment across brands and product ranges. Identify new market opportunities (UK, Europe, and international wholesale and retail). Lead strategic partnerships, licensing, and collaborations. Drive digital transformation -- including e-commerce, wholesale platforms (Shopify, Faire), and ERP integration (Khaos Control).

Commercial Management

Oversee financial performance: budgeting, P&L, forecasting, and cost control. Work with finance teams to ensure compliance, efficiency, and profitability. Negotiate key supplier and customer contracts, including international manufacturing and distribution.

Design, Product & Brand Development

Collaborate with design teams to ensure brand consistency, trend relevance. and product innovation across jewellery, accessories, and new gift ranges. Oversee packaging, display, and presentation across trade shows and digital platforms. Protect intellectual property and design rights globally.

Operations & Supply Chain

Ensure smooth operation of logistics, stock management, and fulfilment. Maintain strong relationships with manufacturing partners in the UK, Europe, and Asia. Oversee production quality, delivery performance, and sustainability initiatives.

Sales & Marketing

Set and monitor sales targets across all wholesale and retail sales channels. Develop marketing strategies to elevate brand awareness and customer loyalty. Lead PoM's presence at trade fairs (e.g., Harrogate Home & Gift, Top Drawer, Spring Fair, European shows).

People & Culture

Provide inspirational leadership to the management team and wider staff. Foster a positive, creative, and high-performing company culture. Recruit, mentor, and develop key personnel to support growth.

General

Oversee premises, fixtures, and maintenance. Approve installations, displays, and new fittings as required. Step in wherever needed -- from fixing a broken light to closing a deal -- with a "can turn their hand to anything" approach.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Qualities

Proven experience in a senior leadership role within retail, fashion, or design-led industries. Strong commercial acumen with creative sensitivity. Practical and adaptable: able to "turn their hand to anything" and lead by example. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Fast learner with sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable managing both the strategic and the everyday operational detail. Proficient in digital tools: ERP systems (e.g. Khaos Control), retail e-commerce, and B2B wholesale platforms.

Desirable

Understanding of ethical sourcing, sustainability, and brand storytelling. Experience with export and international markets. Appreciation of PoM's aesthetic and customer base.

Trowbridge, Wiltshire (with occasional travel in the UK and overseas)
