The Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Manual Machinist / Fitter to join our team. You will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining a variety of machines within our workshop to manufacture precision metal parts. As well as working in our workshop, the role will also include working with marine and mechanical equipment on a variety of different vessels and sites.

Responsibilities

Operate manual lathes, mills, and other machining equipment to produce precision components. Read and interpret drawings and specifications, including tolerances and surface finishes. Plan and sequence machining tasks efficiently to maximise productivity while maintaining quality. Use precision measuring equipment such as callipers, gauges and micrometres. Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on machines. Perform basic maintenance, repairs and overhauls to marine equipment such as valves, winches, pumps and bearings.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or similar role within a manufacturing environment. Proven experience in Mechanical Fitting covering work on valves, bearings, pumps, winches and other mechanical equipment. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand drawings and specifications. Basic maths skills for accurate measurement and calculations. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Willing to work overtime as requested by the company. Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines. Full UK Driving License.
