Job Description

GGC Valves Ltd is a Valve Stockist and Distributor located in Newmarket, Suffolk. We provide Industrial Valves to the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, Power Generation and Renewable Energy markets across the world.

We are seeking either a skilled or apprentice Machinist to join our team. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for operating various machines where we perform a wide range of precision parts, modifications, and fabrications to our valves. You will be working with a variety of materials, such as Mild steel, Carbon Steels, Alloy Steels, and Stainless Steels.

Majority of machining is on a Colchester Mastiff Centre Lathe with a DRO, also used is a Radial Drill, a small Milling Machine, and some minor fitting/assembly work is required.

The successful candidate should be able to interpret machining drawings provided, ensure the accuracy and quality of the final products. All modifications, measurements, and finishes must be kept to within the allowed applicable standards. Able to work in imperial and metric measurements, help problem solve, keep to delivery deadlines, work well within a team and on your own, and be able to communicate with other departments.

You should have either an apprenticeship or have qualifications on a Manual Lathes, also have experience within the following areas:

- Manual Turning

- Milling

- Radial/Pillar Drilling

- Able to work with a variety of materials

- Able to read and correctly interpret Engineering/Machinist drawings

- Problem solving skills

- Keep workplace neat, tidy and organised

Immediate start is available, but equally are happy to wait for the right candidate.

Schedule of Work: Monday to Friday. 9.00am to 5.30pm.

Salary paid with company bonus scheme, pension, and private health care.

Salary to be agreed based on experience.
