Job Purpose

This function reports directly to the UK Plant Manager and will be responsible for all aspects of Production Engineering support required for the Customer Operation\'s manufacturing team in Slough.

The individual will be responsible for providing leadership to their team members, constantly review efficiencies and looks to eliminate waste within the manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives throughout the organisation, all of which supports the delivery of high-quality products / components to clearly defined standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the hand over and integration from Engineering to Operations all NPD projects.
  • Works in collaboration with the Advanced manufacturing team with the integration and implementation of all new production equipment.
  • Work with the operations team to identify, define and prioritize improvement objectives, define action plans, and support implementation and follow up.
  • Provide and implement continuous improvement methods and tools to assist personnel in the improvement of manufacturing and business processes and resolution of issues.
  • Play an active leadership role in the development of a world class manufacturing facility, implementing standard work processes, lean manufacturing and decreasing complexity, defects and cycle time, FEI management and reporting.
  • Organise, schedule, and manage Kaizen events to teach and motivate employees to attain breakthrough improvements, including defect and lead-time reduction.
  • Mentor, coach, and train various levels throughout the organization in Lean techniques and John Crane\'s continuous improvement methodologies. Develop and promote best practice sharing across Smiths Group.
  • Coordinate benchmarking and external analysis (Workshops, company visits, etc.).
  • Undertake and lead specific projects as designated in support of business objectives.
  • Follow all environmental requirements consistent with supporting the company\'s environmental performance goals.
  • Other duties as required.
