What will you be doing:

The Manufacturing Support Engineer is a multidisciplinary role within UK Manufacturing Engineering which encompasses the responsibilities to deliver continuous improvement initiatives / projects / programmes to maximise yields, volumes, and process performance.

You will provide technical expertise with the ability to take on complex equipment and process improvements in a structured problem-solving capacity including where required vendor relations and project management. The role requires excellent attention to detail and ability to provide feedback to the wider organisation in both verbal and written forms.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Ability to appraise, specify, develop, commission, validate and test new and existing production automated systems and equipment.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including optimisation of productivity, yield and quality, in line with change control requirements.
  • Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary project teams engaged in engineering and process improvement activities including vendor relations, functioning as a leader in small problem-solving teams (2-3 people).
  • Be able to manipulate and analyse operational data and draw conclusions thereby initiating improvement activities with known operational and commercial benefits.
  • Conduct equipment and process safety compliance assessments, appraisals, capability studies and validation / verification programmes in accordance with medical device regulatory requirements.
  • Initiate and support statistical process control programmes for manufacturing systems, including analysis of variation, DoE.
  • Familiar with and use of structured problems-solving techniques such as Lean Six Sigma, and DMAIC.
  • Timely reporting against objectives, including design / milestone reviews, presentations, monthly reporting, and key performance indicator monitoring.
  • Train other team members, junior engineering and operations staff as required, to establish and maintain best work practices.
What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering or equivalent experience would be considered.
  • On a path to or already hold a professional institute member level or equivalent.
In addition, you\'ll have experience in:
  • Minimum of 2 years\' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or science role.
  • Previous experience of working directly with in a medical regulated environment or similarly regulated industry would be an advantage.
