Our Aberdeen based client is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor.
Purpose of this role
This is a hands on role which requires someone who is proactive and task driven. This person will lead by example, reporting non-conformances and unsafe behaviours immediately, driving a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. They will be responsible for supervising all activities from reception of raw materials to the dispatch of finished products. This will involve, but not be limited to, QC of materials, production blending of products, order preparation and load out.
Aside from this the supervisor will take the lead on general site operations and the day to day running of the production plan. Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping throughout the yard and warehouse whilst ensuring all contractors are given site inductions, issued permit to work (RAMS) and supervised for any given scope of work. Ensure all plant/equipment is maintained and serviced in line with company policy.
Core Responsibilities and Key Tasks
Safety and Quality Control:
Ensure strict compliance with all Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards, policies, and procedures.
Comfortable challenging unsafe or non-compliant behaviours, and ensuring corrective action is taken.
Provide leadership in ensuring that processes and procedures are never bypassed or compromised.
Maintain a high standard of housekeeping throughout the yard and warehouse to create a clean and safe workplace environment.
Promptly report any issues to management.
Execute any other assigned duties to meet site requirements, such as plant and equipment maintenance, daily checklists, and tank/equipment inspections. Ensuring all checklists are accurately completed and maintained.
Conduct and oversee contractor inductions, issue permits to work and ensure safe supervision of third-party activities.
Act as a deputy for the Operations Manager in matters related to site maintenance and upkeep.
Operational Planning and Execution:
Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to doing things right the first time.
Supervise all production activities, including material receipt, product blending, order fulfilment, and dispatch.
Develop daily and weekly operational plans for Technicians to ensure timely completion of orders.
Manufacture client products according to instructions and meticulously complete manufacturing batch sheets.
. Facilitate seamless communication between manufacturing and other relevant departments including Sales and Technical.
Order Fulfilment and Logistics:
Prepare orders for delivery by meticulously packaging and labelling finished products, adhering to the specifications outlined in sales orders.
Efficiently load and pack vehicles and containers for transportation.
Accurate Inventory and Materials Management:
Accurately record all received raw materials and returned products or equipment. Updating relevant stock location sheets and SAGE inventory files.
Collect samples of raw materials and returned products for QC analysis, following the guidelines in WI-RX10 (Goods In, Blending, and Storage).
Ensure proper placement, labelling, and segregation of all containers (both raw materials and finished products) as per the site plan.
Facilitate seamless communication between manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure sufficient raw material is always available to make finished products. Ensure stock rotation is adhered to such to limit waste and excess inventory.
Maintain accurate records in the SAGE system, including incoming material, finished product blends, and stock allocations ready for dispatch.
Personnel Development and Competency Assessment:
Lead by example, coaching and developing manufacturing technicians to follow procedures consistently
Educate and train manufacturing technicians, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills for their roles and career progression.
Sign off on completed Grade competencies for technicians.
Additional Responsibilities
Aspart of our clients philosophy, providing support to other internal departments is encouraged and required.
The Manufacturing Supervisor is expected to take on any additional duties necessary to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient operations, including but not limited to:
Supporting site inspections, audits, and QHSE initiatives.
Identifying and addressing potential risks before they escalate.
Participating in incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
Driving continuous improvement in processes, procedures, and team performances
Requirements
Required skills and experience, including education:
IOSH and/or NEBOSH
Dangerous Goods (ADR as minimum)
LEAN / 5S Principles
Preferred skills and experience including education:
Minimum 3 years Proven supervisory or team leader experience in a process-driven manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong understanding of QHSE principles with a track record of upholding standards.
Organised, Microsoft Office proficient, SAGE system proficient.
