The Marketing Assistant will support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of marketing and communications activities for the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity, including our fundraising activities, hospice services, and eight retail shops. This role supports the management of our digital presence, promoting campaigns, events, and stories, and ensuring consistent and compelling communications across all channels.
The successful candidate will help to maintain and raise the profile of the Charity, helping to promote long-term relationships with supporters and stakeholders, enabling the Charity to continue to enhance care at Priscilla Bacon Lodge.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing Campaigns and Content Creation:
Assist with the planning and delivery of integrated marketing campaigns to support fundraising, service promotion, and retail activity.
Create engaging content for digital and print media, including fundraising appeals, newsletters, leaflets, and case studies.
Support internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment across the organisation.
Assist with updating website content using WordPress, ensuring alignment with SEO and accessibility standards.
Digital and Social Media Management:
Support and grow the Charity's presence on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Create and schedule social media content and respond to engagement where appropriate.
Monitor performance using tools such as Meta Insights, Google Analytics, and email analytics to inform future strategy.
Support email marketing campaigns using our in-house email marketing platform.
Retail Marketing:
Deliver marketing support for Priscilla Bacon Retail shops, including shop promotions, shop window campaigns, and volunteer recruitment materials.
Work closely with the Retail Area Manager to align in-store and online activity.
Promote retail donation drives and community-based initiatives through social media and local press.
Brand and Design Coordination:
Ensure all materials produced meet the Charity's brand and tone of voice guidelines.
Support staff and volunteers with branded templates and guidance for consistent communications.
Help maintain an image bank and assist with gathering case studies, testimonials, and photographs.
Ensure all digital content complies with GDPR and that appropriate photographic consents are obtained and recorded.
Event Promotion and Media Liaison:
Work alongside the Fundraising Team to promote events, campaigns and community fundraising initiatives.
Attend selected events to capture photos, videos, and stories for digital use.
Track and report media coverage and assist with maintaining media contact lists.
Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications/Experience:
Experience in a marketing, communications, or digital content role.
Experience managing organisational social media channels.
Confidence using tools like WordPress, Canva, and email marketing platforms.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Creative, proactive and organised, with excellent attention to detail and proof-reading skills.
Strong writing and storytelling abilities and skilled in researching content for both digital and print content.
A clear understanding of branding and tone of voice.
Desirable:
Experience in the charity or retail sectors.
Experience using Adobe InDesign.
Photography, design, or video editing skills.
Understanding of data protection and digital marketing compliance.
Passion for the work and ethos of Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity.
