Overview


Precision Investment Castings Ltd, part of the Erlson Group, specialises in the manufacture of steel and aluminium investment castings for the Aerospace, Defence and Oil & Gas Industries. You will work closely with the Technical Team who oversee all aspects of Technical & Production operations including Wax/Shell/Foundry.

In a fast paced technical demanding manufacturing environment clear communication is integral part of the manufacturing process. You must be competent and comprehend complex operations and customer specifications. You should also be able to optimise day-to-day activities while minimising the costs. The goal is to ensure that production processes deliver technical exacting products of maximum quality and technical compliance in a profitable manner..

Key Duties and Responsibilities



Oversee the technical aspects of major incoming raw materials, especially metallics, to ensure compliance with specifications and procedures.

Ensuring that appropriate testing of raw materials is performed and that test results are satisfactory.

Oversee the Foundry Spectrometer to ensure correct operation and calibration so that real time and post cast analyses are accurate.

Oversee the application of weld repair procedures to ensure compliance with specifications.

Implementation or advising on action to be taken where casts, melts or castings are outside of specification

Oversee the application of mechanical testing procedures and operator training. Act as back up for mechanical testing where necessary.

Advising the Sales Department at the customer enquiry stage of any design/metallurgical considerations when preparing quotations

Oversee the testing of slurry and shell materials for the investment casting moulds.

Oversee new product introduction including tooling design & procurement, and the preparation of first article samples.

Assist in the reduction of scrap / re-work by improving production processes and techniques.

Ensure compliance with all quality requirements relating to the technical aspects of casting manufacture whether of internal origin or from customer requirements.

Ensure that timely and effective corrective measures are taken should any deviation from procedures or quality requirements occur.

Trend analysis and Technical Support.

Participate in and drive continuous improvement so that we can produce castings in the most efficient, economical and reproduceable way.

Skills and Experience Required



Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Educated to a minimum HND level in Metallurgy/Materials/Engineering or a related discipline

Exceptional planning and organisational skills.

Ability to manage a number of tasks concurrently and meet deadlines

Be hard working and conscientious.

The ability to work calmly under pressure.

Show good initiative and enthusiasm and lead by example.

Ability to work on own initiative and be self-motivated to arrange daily diary and work as part of a team.

Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.

Exceptional attention to detail.

Good ICT skills.

Hold a valid driving licence.

Good problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of investment or foundry casting or a similar technical role would be advantageous.

Hours:



This role is 37 hours working a 5 day-week and the standard hours are: Mon - Thurs 08:00 - 16:30 and Fridays - 08:00 - 13:00.

Benefits:



Holidays are 25 Days holidays plus 8 bank holidays = 33 days.

Pay: 30,000.00 per year
