Job Description

Make a real difference in people's lives by bringing your love of numbers and language to our Functional Skills & GCSE training team in Plymouth City Centre. We're looking for a confident Maths & English Tutor to support our vocational learners with these crucial life and employment skills.



Salary: 19,226 per annum



(pro rata of 23,346pa based on a standard full-time week of 34 hours)

Hours: 28 per week (usually across 4 days)



Planned Start: September 2025

Our standard full-time working week is 34 hours, usually Monday to Friday (although some flexibility may be required depending on the sector in which you work). The Job Role:



"Actively Transforming Lives" by delivering consistent, high quality training in Maths and English to support learners in achieving functional skills and GSCE qualifications.



The Candidate:



Qualified to teach GCSE and/or Functional Skills in Maths and/orEnglish

;

Hold current teaching qualification to minimum of Level 4

(CTLLS, Education & Training or equivalent)

CAVA or equivalent assessing qualification an advantage

(but fully-accredited training available in-house)

Experienced in supporting and maintaining engagement of learners from Entry Level 2 to Level 2 abilities, with the resilience and positive, approachable manner that maintains learner engagement



Confident in delivering consistent quality of training and assessment, teaching individuals, small groups and classroom cohorts



Have good organisational skills with ability to prioritise own workload;

Able to develop and maintain motivational working relationships with learners;

Able to work both independently and within the wider team supporting functional skills as part of the vocational subject curriculum.
