About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and mechanically qualified Contracts Manager to take full mechanical ownership of a high-profile 9m M&E installation at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time role based on site.
The successful candidate will have a strong healthcare background, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a proven track record in managing large-scale mechanical installation projects within complex, live environments.
Key Responsibilities
Take full mechanical ownership of the project from pre-construction through to completion.
Manage all aspects of procurement, design coordination, installation, commissioning, and handover.
Lead and coordinate a team of engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.
Oversee cost control, programme management, and quality assurance in line with company and client standards.
Liaise closely with the client, consultants, and internal teams to ensure smooth communication and issue resolution.
Prepare and present regular progress reports to the Divisional Director.
Ensure all works are delivered in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Manage subcontractor performance and assess opportunities for self-delivery where applicable.
Requirements
Recognised mechanical qualification (HNC/HND or degree level preferred).
Proven experience as a Mechanical Contracts Manager or similar role within the M&E construction industry.
Strong background in healthcare or hospital projects is essential.
Excellent technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, medical gases, and associated systems.
Ability to manage design coordination and interface with electrical and building services teams.
Commercially astute with strong understanding of project financials and contract management.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
