About the role (External)
What does the average day look like?
Reporting to the Senior Media & PR Manager, you'll play a crucial role in bringing our priorities and initiatives to life. You'll be part of a busy, collaborative press desk, supporting round-the-clock media activity and responding to enquiries in real time. Crucially, you'll be expected to create and adapt content that is concise, engaging, and optimised for mobile platforms - ensuring our messages reach audiences wherever they are and however they choose to engage. You'll help set the standard for clear, accessible communication, recognising that the way we share our story is as important as the story itself.
Your day-to-day will see you managing media coordination and information exchange, drafting and delivering press releases and briefings, and organising media opportunities such as photo calls and facility visits.
You'll monitor media channels, responding quickly to queries, and maintain relationships with journalists to ensure our key stories are communicated effectively. When major incidents occur, you'll help implement the crisis communications plan, supporting Network Rail's reputation when it matters most.
You'll also be responsible for evaluating press coverage and taking corrective action as needed, always striving to deliver proactive public relations strategies aligned with company objectives.
This is your chance to make a real impact - helping to build public trust and drive positive change at a time of industry-wide transformation.
