Medical Receptionist / Administrator

Job Description

Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice. Deal with all general enquiries from patients, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments. Receive and make telephone calls as required. Take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.



Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient/pharmacy within 48 hours, in line with practice protocol. Act on clinicians requests for further information/patient contact information etc. ensuring completion of all associated requests. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same Process incoming and outgoing mail according to practice protocols.



Record actions taken in patient record where appropriate or in accordance with practice protocols Accepting new registrations/temporary residents/immediately necessary forms and completion of necessary actions Care Navigate patients to the correct services ensuring the patients receive the correct and most effective care for their needs
