Job Description

You will be responsible to the Reception Manager

Hours: 23.5 hours per week to cover maternity leave starting 9th February 2026.

Working days would be Monday 8am - 2pm, Thursday & Friday 8am - 1pm and 2pm - 6:30pm.

Reception duties include the following:



To meet and greet patients, visitors and members of the public in a courteous and helpful manner, whether in person or via the telephone.

To direct patients to the appropriate service and ensure enquiries are dealt with quickly and efficiently.

To offer general administrative assistance to the Practice Team.

Facilitate communication between patients, members of the primary health care team and other associated healthcare agencies.

Duties may vary under the direction of the Practice Manager and Reception Manager, depending on workload and staffing levels and may include the following:

Processing appointment requests via Accurx Triage and over the telephone Operating a repeat prescriptions request system according to Practice guidelines. Taking messages and recording requests for visits and telephone consultations, ensuring callers are directed to the relevant professional. Handling and distributing both incoming and outgoing mail. Maintaining records and filing paperwork. Computer data entry, allocation and collation; processing and recording information. Registering and deducting patients. Data processing, photocopying, filing and scanning Attend Practice meetings when required. Attend relevant training courses, both in-house and externally to develop expertise. Assist in opening and locking-up when required and maintaining security of the Practice premises. Keeping the reception area free from obstructions.
