Job Summary:



The Medical Receptionist/Care Navigator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the practice by providing excellent customer service and efficient administrative support. This role involves managing patient interactions, coordinating appointments, and assisting with care navigation to ensure patients receive the appropriate services.

Key Responsibilities:



Greet and assist patients in a friendly and professional manner, both in person and over the phone.

Manage visitors coming into the surgery, ensuring they are signed into the visitors' book.

Review and manage room availability for clinicians to ensure optimal scheduling and efficient use of practice facilities.

Manage appointment scheduling, including booking, rescheduling, and cancelling appointments as needed.

Oversee the schedule of baby immunisation appointments, ensuring timely coordination and effective communication with health visitors to support the immunisation programme.

Serve as the first point of contact for patient inquiries, providing information and guidance on practice services and procedures.

Assist with care navigation by directing patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service based on their needs.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.

Process patient registrations and update personal information as required.

Handle administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and managing correspondence.

Handle emails, faxes and online consultations and distribute accordingly.

Regularly check and accurately record fridge temperatures to ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain the integrity of stored vaccines.

Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and address any immediate patient needs.

Assist with the management of repeat prescriptions, cancelation/rejections and other patient requests.

Liaise with external organisations to support the GP in addressing queries, ensuring effective communication and resolution of issues.

Ensure that urgent medication management tasks are promptly addressed and forwarded to the duty GP for timely action.

Manage and maintain the reception 'to-do' box, ensuring tasks are prioritised, addressed promptly and completed efficiently to support the smooth operation of the practice.

Assist clinicians with chaperoning as and when required.

Support the practice team with additional tasks and projects as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

:

A good standard of general education, including GCSEs in English and Maths. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong customer service skills and experience in a similar role. Proficiency in using computers and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office). Familiarity with healthcare software systems (e.g., EMIS, SystmOne) is advantageous. Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively. Empathy and patience when dealing with patients. Attention to detail and accuracy in managing appointments and records. Understanding of the importance of confidentiality in a healthcare setting.

Role 2

: 21 hours per week, with working days on Wednesday and Friday 08:00 am to 6:30 pm.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 21 per week
