JOB TITLE: MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST - 1 - 2 Posts



1 x Full-time Permanent Post or 2 Part-time Permanent Posts

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

5 GCSE'S OR EQUIVALENT INCLUDING MATHS AND ENGLISH - Grade A to C -

Subjects and grades must be specified. Failure to provide details of essential criteria will result in your application not being considered.

IT LITERATE .

DESIREABLE CRITERIA:

1 YEARS PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN A MEDICAL OR ALLIED FIELD

TRAINING:

TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED ON SITE.

PAY:

T O BE AGREED DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Reception Duties



Proving a welcoming first point of contact for patients and supporting the in accessing the most appropriate care. Manage appointments including bookings, amending, prioritising urgent needs and supporting the efficiency of the practice systems. Signpost patients to suitable services such as community pharmacy when appropriate. Explain the formal requirements to new and temporary patients, ensure paper work is completed accurately. Handle incoming telephone calls efficiently, including transferring calls, taking accurate messages and supporting the practice policies. Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipt for same. Record all requests for home visits onto computer when received, include all relevant information and contact details. Ensure that home visits are referred to the Duty Doctor immediately if they have already left the building. Process requests for repeat prescriptions accurately following practice policies ensuring that all appropriate details are taken to enable the Doctor to make recommendations. Assist the administrative tasks, including data entry, email management, handling post and maintaining patient records. Manage specimens, ambulance bookings and interpreting service arrangements when required. Maintain confidentiality, uphold data protection standards and contribute to safe, effective running of the practice. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth patient care and contribute to practice quality and activities.

Special requirements of the post



An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality. An ability to use own judgement, common-sense and local knowledge, to respond to Patients' enquiries and requests. Excellent communication skills
