We are a traditional but very modern five partner practice offering a high standard of clinical care within a friendly atmosphere.

The practice is seeking an organised and proactive Medical Receptionist to join our friendly team.

Job summary:



The Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the GP practice. In addition to traditional reception duties, this role involves basic triage of patient enquiries to ensure they are directed appropriately based on clinical urgency and service need. The post-holder will act as the first point of contact for patients, providing a professional, compassionate, and efficient service both in person and on the telephone

Reception & Administration:



Welcome patients and visitors in a polite and professional manner. Answer incoming calls, manage appointment bookings, and respond to queries. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Handle incoming and outgoing post, emails, and administrative correspondence. Maintain and update patient records accurately using clinical systems (e.g., SystmOne).

Triage and Care Navigation:



Use agreed protocols and clinical templates to gather key information from patients to determine the nature and urgency of their request. Signpost patients to the most appropriate clinician, service, or self-care option (e.g., GP, nurse, pharmacist, NHS 111). Escalate any concerns or red flag symptoms to the duty clinician or senior staff. Support appointment management to prioritise urgent care needs while ensuring access for routine issues. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available services and referral pathways to support care navigation

The Apples Medical Centre is a long established five partner practice of 5566 patients within sight of both historic Sherborne Castles. We are a modern thinking Dispensing Practice, with an emphasis on traditional continuity of care.

The Practice has a higher than average remuneration and a manageable doctor to patient ratio. We achieve high QOF points and our latest CQC inspection rated the Practice as Good.

We have a high patient satisfaction rate and dispense to 1975 of our patient population.

We commenced with eConsult, in additional to our Telephone consultations and Email communication. We offer of mixture of pre-bookable and book on the day.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 28.5 per week
