Job Description

Alexander House Surgery is the highest achieving GP surgery in the area. We currently have an opportunity for another part time Medical Secretary to join the team due to opening an additional site.

We are a friendly, patient orientated GP practice with over 10,000 patients, rated Good by the CQC and recently achieved 100% on the Quality out come Framework, something only 1% of surgeries in the country achieve. As a team we socialise regularly with nights out! At Christmas we have a visit from Mr and Mrs Claus and encourage people to bring their children and grandchildren in. We understand that mental health and wellbeing is crucial post pandemic and offer various employee assistance programmes. All employees have access to the very generous NHS pension scheme. In this role the employee would contribute 5.2% and the employer will contribute 14.8%.

What we are looking for in return is an enthusiastic, reliable and flexible person to join our Secretarial Team. The shift pattern available is as follows:

Wednesday 8.30am to 5.00pm, Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm with a 30 minute lunch break each day. This is a total of 24 hours per week.

The successful applicant should have excellent people and customer service skills, be a strong and flexible team player, be computer literate and able to work on their own initiative.

Job Responsibilities:



a. Typing letters, reports and associated documentation as required

b. Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals and community services, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently

c. Managing all enquiries in an effective manner

d. Maintaining an accurate referrals database

e. Actioning all incoming email

f. Processing calling letters as requested

g. Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient's healthcare records

h. Inputting data into the patient's healthcare records as necessary

i. Processing referrals using the electronic referral system (ERS)

j. Processing requests for information i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitor's letters and DVLA forms

k. Answering incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

l. Managing all administrative queries as necessary

m. Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 13.00-14.50 per hour
