Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated, efficient, and professional Medical Secretary to provide secretarial and administrative support to our clinical team at The Ruddington Medical Centre. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the service and day-to-day secretarial tasks and administration.
Job responsibilities
The
Medical Secretary
role involves managing inbound and outbound patient referrals, mainly via ERS, while having a good understanding of medical terminology to process and write letters.
You will need to be a
highly organised, detail-oriented individual
with preferred experience in
medical administration
, who can work efficiently with computers independently, in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Experience
Essential
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general IT skills.
Dealing with urgent and routine requests efficiently/ ability to prioritise tasks and manage a busy workload.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail for accurate data entry and correspondence.
Experience handling patient queries in a professional and empathetic manner.
Desirable
Previous experience using SystmOne.
Medical Secretary experience/qualifitactions.
Administrative Experience.
Experience handling confidential and sensitive information in compliance with GDPR/ Awareness of confidentiality, data protection (GDPR), and safeguarding.
Experience handling NHS and private referrals (e.g., e-RS)
Understanding of NHS procedures, including referrals, medical records, and complaints.
Knowledge of medical terminology to accurately process letters and referrals.
Understanding of clinical coding and correctly filing documents.
Liaising with hospitals, consultants, and external healthcare providers.
Experience working in an office or healthcare setting
