Job Summary


A position has become available for an enthusiastic Medical Secretary to join the Secretarial team. The role requires a self-motivated, disciplined individual to assist with the day to day smooth running of the practice. The chosen candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a superb communicator both written and verbally.
Previous secretarial experience is essential; knowledge of medical terminology would also be an advantage. Audio typing experience will be required for this role, as will an advanced knowledge of the WCCG system.
The successful candidate's key tasks will include formatting of clinic letters using dictation tapes, written requests and Lexacom software, overseeing and arranging requests for private medicals, Occupational Health queries and liaising with the private sector.
Managing the Medical Secretary Inbox and responding to email queries and telephone calls from secondary care, professionals and patients to drive forward service improvement and patient focused care.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support to clinical colleagues and the practice manager. Other responsibilities will include general office duties such as photocopying, managing post, requesting medical records, ordering equipment, stationery and consumables.

The post is for 30 to 37.5 hours per week over five days, working hours are negotiable. The salary will be discussed at interview.

The practice provides an excellent annual leave package of 30 days' annual leave and an additional 8 bank holidays per annum and inclusion into the NHS Pension Scheme.

Isca Medical Centre is a well-established, progressive and friendly practice located in Caerleon with a branch surgery in Ponthir and has approximately 9600 patients.
The main practice is situated within the suburban Roman village of Caerleon with nearby access to the M4 and many local amenities. We are a busy, forward thinking Practice who is committed to the continued development of our staff.

Must have a Secretarial qualification or current Secretarial experience.
