Shore Medical is a GP Super Partnership with 6 practices across Poole and Bournemouth. We aspire to offer exceptional care to our 58,000 patients and are innovative in our approach to developing new teams and pathways to ever improve how general practice is delivered.

We have a friendly and supportive team of more than 200 staff, with over 40 GPs, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Nurses, Mental Health specialists and our range of administrative staff.

The Practices in the Partnership are:

Lilliput Surgery Poole Road Medical Centre Wessex Road Surgery Heatherview Medical Centre Fernside Surgery Parkstone Tower Practice

The Opportunity



We are seeking an experienced

Medical Secretary

to provide a high-quality administrative service to GPs across Shore Medical. This role is responsible for providing accurate, efficient and punctual medical secretarial and administrative support to Partners, GPs, Registrars and Practice Nurses.

The duration of the role is for 10 months starting in September, working 30 hours per week

based at our Heatherview Medical Centre

Hours of work

- Monday to Friday (9am -3pm/11am - 5pm). Shift patterns may be negotiable - to be discussed at interview

The successful post holder will undertake

a Standard DBS check and be subject to pre-employment checks.

Job responsibilities:



To provide a high quality secretarial/ administration service to the Practice and Patients. Efficient, fast and accurate, processing and prioritising of referral letters, from both NHS e-Referrals and the private sector, using a digital dictation system. Reconciling transcriptions on return from the external audio transcription provider. Effectively operate the e-Referrals computer system including requesting e-Referral appointments and monitoring e-Referral status. Update patient records in a timely and accurate manner. Reconciliation of medical notes for new patients including summarising and coding. Coding of any incoming Safeguarding documents Keep GPs informed of updates as necessary. Deal with patient queries regarding referrals, including e-Referrals.
This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities, and the post holder may be required to undertake other duties, which fall within the grade of the job, in discussion with the manager.

Experience:



Previous experience in a similar Medical Secretarial role Proven experience in handling confidential information Proficient at audio typing Strong communication skills both written and verbal High levels of attention to detail Proven organisational and time management skills Experienced in handling confidential and sensitive information Competent in the use of a range of software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Proven organisational and time management skills Minimum GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
