High Street Surgery is seeking 1 part-time experienced medical secretary
to support the day-to-day operations of our practice. This role is purely secretarial and includes managing referrals, letters and emails from the clinicians and secondary care. The person will be responsible for referrals on the eRS portal and providing administrative support to our secretarial team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others and a desire to work in a fast-paced, pressured environment. Experience in primary care and SystmOne is desirable; medical terminology is essential to help patients to access the right services in secondary care, keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that all referrals are well-managed.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
ensure referrals are done in a timely manner;
sending patients their paperwork to book their own appointments at the hospital of their choice;
ensuring patient records are updated with the correct information;
dealing with requests from secondary care to complete and manage referrals
advising patients of practice procedures;
keeping 2WW register up to date
ensuring worklists on eRs are kept accurate
taking meeting minutes
liaising with patients and providers
listening to dictation and typing letters
Working within an extremely busy team, you must be self motivated, and efficient.
Managing high volumes of data and administration
We are looking for a 1 part-time person. However, due to the nature of the job we are unable to accommodate requests to work mornings/evenings only.

Experience working in an office setting where you will be required to perform essential duties of the job. This position requires regular attendance at work at our Cheshunt practice.
