Dunluce Pharmacy Ltd is a community-focused pharmacy dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare and excellent customer service. We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Pharmacy Medicines Counter Assistant to join our team on a 1-year fixed-term contract starting in February 2026.
About the Role
As a Pharmacy Medicines Counter Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for customers and play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our pharmacy operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public and is eager to build their knowledge within a community pharmacy healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Delivering excellent patient-focused customer service at the pharmacy reception counter
Receiving and logging prescriptions presented for dispensing
Answering the telephone promptly and professionally, directing enquiries appropriately, and handling customer enquiries
Assisting customers with over-the-counter medicines and health-related queries (after training)
Referring customers to the pharmacist when appropriate
Processing transactions and managing the till
Maintenance of pharmacy records as appropriate
Supporting shop floor duties including stock replenishment, date checking, and merchandising
Assisting the dispensary team with routine tasks as required
Maintaining a clean, organised, and welcoming retail area
Following all company procedures and adhering to PSNI standards and confidentiality requirements applicable in Northern Ireland
Skills & Experience
Experience in retail, customer service, or pharmacy (desirable but not essential)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Confident and polite telephone manner
A positive, approachable attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to work effectively within a team in a busy environment
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
NPA Medicines Counter and Dispensing qualification or equivalent
OR
NPA Medicines Counter Assistant qualification or equivalent
OR
Willingness to enrol in and complete relevant training supported by the employer
Familiarity with McLernon's MPS pharmacy management software
