We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Medico-Legal Secretary to provide essential administrative support within a busy Medical practice. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities, managing correspondence, and assisting legal professionals with various clerical tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong administrative experience and proficient IT skills to contribute to a professional legal environment.
We're a growing team with a well established practice throughout the West Midlands. Anyone applying for this role needs to be dynamic and have an aptitude to pick up new projects quickly, whilst maintaining standards on existing workload.
Responsibilities
Draft, review, and type legal documents with accuracy using audio typing and standard word processing tools
Manage and organise case files, correspondence, and legal documentation efficiently
Schedule appointments, court dates, and meetings, ensuring all deadlines are met
Prepare presentations and reports using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook
Handle incoming calls and correspondence professionally, maintaining clear communication with clients and colleagues
Assist with general administrative duties including filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies
Support medico-legal staff with research tasks and document organisation as required
Support Office manager with general administration
Support Directors with formatting and proof reading of documents
Prepare costs and drafts in line with clinician requests, accurately and timely using both our quote system (Xero) and manually within legal documents.
Skills
Proven administrative experience within a legal or professional environment
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Audio typing skills with high accuracy and speed
Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Good time management skills to meet tight deadlines
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Knowledge of legal procedures and terminology is advantageous but not essential
