The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) represents and supports over 10,000 local councils and 40 county associations across England. We're looking for a proactive, detail-oriented
Member Services Officer
to provide high-quality support to our members and ensure the accuracy of our membership data.
This role combines frontline service delivery with data stewardship and project support, helping to enhance member experience, strengthen engagement, and contribute to NALC's digital transformation.
What you'll be doing:
Member Services
- Acting as the first point of contact for councils and county associations, managing onboarding/offboarding and ensuring smooth access to membership services.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain the membership database (CRM), keeping records accurate, consistent, and up to date.
Digital Transformation & AI Support
- Assist with digital projects, including process automation, new tools, and supporting pilots and rollouts that improve member services.
Collaboration & Internal Support
- Work with colleagues across communications, policy, and events to share insights, support engagement, and contribute to wider organisational needs.
Who we're looking for
You'll bring:
At least 2 years' experience in a member-facing or customer service role, ideally in a membership body or non-profit.
Confidence in handling member and customer queries in a professional and timely way.
Experience using CRM systems to maintain accurate data, and familiarity with digital engagement tools (e.g. Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Ready Membership).
Strong digital skills, including Microsoft 365, with the ability to work with datasets and reporting tools.

What's on offer:
Full or part-time, fixed term contract
27,000 - 37,000 per annum
Hybrid working, with office located at The Bloomsbury Building, 10 Bloomsbury Way, Holborn, London, WC1A 2SL
11% employer pension contribution
30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and three working days between Christmas and the New Year
