Working closely with the Memory Connections team, this role presents an exciting opportunity to deliver our Memory Connections MCST programme in Somerset.
The programme offers enjoyable weekly sessions where group members take part in stimulating games and activities designed to assist those with mild to moderate dementia in maintaining their memory and thinking skills. Other potential benefits include increased confidence and friendship which could lead to a better quality of life.
Fun really is right at the heart of it all and you will need to develop creative theme-based subjects to facilitate discussion and participation. As a confident communicator who is sensitive in dealing with people within a group situation, you will encourage involvement whilst having compassion and consideration for individuals' varied health issues and personalities.
A reliable and effective broadband internet connection with appropriate arrangements for home working will be required. You may also require access to a motor vehicle for community working.

Memory Connections Group Facilitator
JOB PURPOSE:
Delivery of MCST Memory Connections group work programmes
ACCOUNTABLE TO:
Information & Support Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
This post does not carry line management responsibilities, but will involve working with volunteers.
TRAVEL:
The nature of the job may require travel around the beneficial area. It is the post holder's responsibility to hold a valid driving licence and provide a roadworthy vehicle with business mileage insurance. Travel expenses are paid at an appropriate rate.
MAIN DUTIES
Plan and facilitate structured group sessions for people with mild to moderate dementia.
Attend relevant training for Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) session delivery
Facilitate group sessions for the MCST programme
Monitor person-centred outcomes for individual clients participating
Plan client-focused strategy, transitioning from Maintenance CST groups to other delivery programmes and/or providers, according to individual client need
Meet all reporting requirements, and requests for Case Studies
PERSON SPECIFICATION - Essential areas
Good standard of education
Good working knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Power Point
Experience of running group sessions or working with people in a group
Commitment to attend and participate in induction and relevant training to achieve the knowledge required to deliver a quality service
A current driving licence and/ or access to a car
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: 13.14 per hour
