We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Community Mental Health, Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) to work within our Intensive Life Skills Pathway based in clinic or community venues within South Staffordshire (Lichfield, Tamworth, Burton, Uttoxeter, Cannock, Stafford and Seisdon).



The Intensive Life Skills (ILS) Pathway is a multi-disciplinary Mental Health Team providing assessment and intervention for adults 17+ experiencing complex emotional difficulties as part of the Adult Mental Health Service.



You will support the service as a highly skilled HCSW working with a highly psychologically minded, enthusiastic, dedicated and supportive team to support service-users who present with high levels of emotional distress and often have histories of complex trauma, neurodiversity and/or adverse experiences.



The pathway uses therapeutic models including Structured Clinical Management (SCM), attachment theory, behavioural theory, Compassion-Focussed Therapy, EMDR, Trauma-Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Treatment. The successful candidate will be offered to attend the (DBT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Essential skills training, to use the knowledge and skills learnt in combining individual and workshop-based interventions.

You will need to travel independently over a large geographical area and will require suitable transport.



As a Community Mental Health, Health Care Support Worker you will work with adults / older adults and, where appropriate and necessary their families or carers, to provide ongoing support, therapeutic interventions when agreed, practical assistance and problem resolution under the supervision of a senior team member.

The role will involve:

Providing an early response for those in crisis as part of an overall recovery plan.

Contributing to a range of mental health intervention strategies as delegated by other team members.

Working without direct supervision to undertake assessments and deliver interventions relating to individual needs.

Organising and prioritising own workload on a daily basis.

Implementing and help evaluate interventions, utilising a range of resources in order to achieve positive outcomes.

Implement and support detailed care plans, outcome measures documentation, risk assessments and treatment programmes (including intervention Support Plans, mental health and multi-disciplinary care plans).

Utilise appropriate outcome measures as part of evaluation of care and progress as part of our commitment to evidence based recovery.
