Role Overview:

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional and educational development of students with SEMH needs. This role involves working closely with teachers and other staff to provide tailored support and interventions, helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with mental health needs. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans (ILPs) and support strategies. Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour, using positive reinforcement support strategies. Assist teachers with planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons. Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents. Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students. Support students in developing social skills, self-esteem, and resilience. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Experience:



Experience working with children and young people, particularly those with mental health needs. Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with mental health needs and the ability to implement effective support strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach. Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field are desirable but not essential. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
