Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Assist in implementing individual behaviour support plans and therapeutic strategies.
Support the class teacher in maintaining a calm and focused learning environment.
Encourage pupils to develop self-regulation, confidence, and independence.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful school culture.
Work collaboratively with SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external agencies.
Track and report on student progress and behaviour to inform future interventions.
Help de-escalate challenging situations and manage behaviour constructively.
Requirements
Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or similar additional needs is essential.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills.
A patient, calm, and proactive approach to behaviour and learning support.
A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Relevant training or qualifications (e.g., Team Teach, Mental Health First Aid, Youth Work) are beneficial.
A current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
