Mental-Health HCA / Support Worker - Community & Supported Living


14.50 - 18.00 per hour o Weekly pay o Flexible agency shifts
Service area: Guildford o Woking o Epsom o Reigate o Redhill o Leatherhead + every Surrey postcode

- 45 p/mile for community travel.
What you'll be doing

Build therapeutic relationships

with adults experiencing schizophrenia, bipolar, PTSD, personality disorder or dual diagnosis (MH & LD).

Support care plans

- help clients reach recovery goals, maintain ADLs, attend appointments and develop coping strategies.

Monitor mental & physical health

- record mood, sleep, medication adherence and NEWS2 observations, escalating concerns promptly.

Lead and model low-arousal de-escalation

to reduce restrictive practice and promote dignity.

Administer or prompt medication

(after competency sign-off) and document MAR charts accurately.

Enable community participation

- accompany to college, volunteering, gym, social clubs and wellbeing activities.

Maintain clear electronic notes

(SystmOne / EMIS) and complete incident, ABC or STAR logs as required.

Safeguard clients

by recognising and reporting any abuse or deterioration in mental state.
Essentials you'll bring

6+ months' experience

in mental-health, forensic, supported-living or hospital settings.

Enhanced DBS

on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).

PMVA / MAPA / PROACT-SCIPr certificate

(or willingness to train - free).

Right to work in the UK

(we cannot offer sponsorship).

Good communication & resilience

- able to remain calm under pressure.

Driving licence & car

preferred; mileage paid.
Desirable extras

Knowledge of

Positive Behaviour Support plans

or

trauma-informed care

. Experience with

epilepsy, autism or personality-disorder support

. Completed

Care Certificate

or Level 2/3 Health & Social Care.
