Purpose of the Position:

Soane Britain is proud to have the only rattan workshop in the UK. Due to the continued demand for our rattan furniture and lighting our workshops have expanded rapidly in the Thurmaston area.

Our Thurmaston workshops accommodate several manufacturing processes to complement our rattan manufacturing. The most significant is a dedicated fabrication, patination, assembly and wiring facility.

The role will be responsible for the preparation and polishing of brass components to a very high standard to then be used in our lighting workshop, ensuring quality the production schedule is maintained.

The successful candidate will be working with the Finishing Specialist and Fabricator to deliver outstanding designs to agreed QC specifications, on time and on budget.

Due to the nature of the small team at Leicester the role will require a can-do attitude and the candidate must not be afraid to get stuck in with the task at hand, be enthusiastic and self-motivated. This role is suitable for someone with a keen eye for detail and the ability to achieve the excellent standards for which Soane Britain is well known.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Polishing and preparation of brass components to finish to a high standard Inspect and ensure components are polished to the correct standard/tolerance Responsibility for components and consumables within the polishing workshop General workshop maintenance and housekeeping Always maintaining a safe and clean working environment

Qualifications for the Position:

Experience of metal polishing (Minimum 2 years) Experience of using hand and power tools Experience of finishing processes welcome (hot and cold patination) Experience of electrical wiring is desirable but not a necessity Interest and existing knowledge of luxury furniture and lighting is a bonus
