Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and materials required
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for projects, including labor, materials, and equipment
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and companies/clients to ensure accurate and timely estimates
- Review and evaluate bids from clients and suppliers
- Negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive bids
- Track project costs and provide regular updates to project managers
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and schedules
- Participate in pre-manufacturing meetings and site visits as needed
1. Review Project Specifications:
Analyse and interpret project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand client requirements.
2. Quantification and Take-off:
- Conduct material take-offs and quantify the required steel components for fabrication.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure accurate interpretation of design
requirements.
3. Cost Estimation:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for steel fabrication projects, including labour, materials,
equipment, and overhead costs.
- Utilize industry-standard pricing databases and historical data to ensure accuracy.
4. Bid Preparation:
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that are competitive, compliant, and aligned with
client expectations.
- Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to develop winning strategies.
5. Vendor and Supplier Relations:
- Obtain and evaluate quotes from vendors and suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness and
quality.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
6. Risk Assessment:
- Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with each project.
- Provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
7. Communication:
- Effectively communicate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to gather
necessary information and clarify project requirements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Steelwork Fabrication Estimator in the construction or steel
fabrication industry.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirement
- Bachelor's degree in estimating or related field preferred
- Proven experience as a Estimator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of steel engineering methods, materials, and regulations
- Proficient in using microsoft excel,estimating software, and tools
- Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
