Dalvey is a design-led Scottish brand producing precision-engineered accessories and timepieces for a global audience. Founded in 1897 and based near Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland, we create distinctive products -- from flasks and compasses to wristwatches and barometers -- that blend heritage craftsmanship with bold, contemporary design.
We're a small, focused team designing and manufacturing real products in-house. This is a rare opportunity to work on-site with a luxury brand that combines creative development with technical execution.
The Role
We're hiring a
Midweight Product Designer
to work closely with our Senior Designer in the development of a wide variety of physical products -- and to take ownership of projects from concept through to production.
This is a hands-on, studio-based role with a strong technical component. You'll contribute to design direction, communicate directly with suppliers, prepare and refine production files, and manage design iterations. You'll be expected to work with a higher level of autonomy while still collaborating closely with the Senior Designer to maintain Dalvey's design language.
What You'll Do
Lead discrete product projects from concept to final production with light supervision
Use 3D software (e.g., Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360) to model, adapt, and refine designs
Prepare detailed 2D and 3D files for manufacturing and packaging
Communicate with suppliers: send drawings, track changes, and manage technical feedback loops
Oversee sample reviews, maintain version control, and coordinate production readiness
Identify opportunities to improve design processes and production workflows
Contribute ideas for new products and enhancements to existing ranges
Work across a wide and evolving range of product categories while ensuring consistency with Dalvey's distinctive aesthetic
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with
3-10 years of experience
in product design who can combine technical skill with creative thinking -- and who wants to build a long-term career with Dalvey.
You'll need to have:
A degree or equivalent experience in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a closely related discipline
Strong proficiency in 3D design software (Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
Experience with 2D vector tools such as Adobe Illustrator
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in managing files, versions, and supplier correspondence
The ability to take ownership of projects and work independently while maintaining alignment with the brand
A genuine interest in physical product, materials, and brand craftsmanship
On-site availability near Inverness -- this is not a remote role
Desirable but Not Essential:
Photography, digital content, or layout work
Website or social asset creation
Packaging or brand storytelling contributions
What You'll Gain
The opportunity to lead product development projects within a respected heritage brand
Collaboration with an experienced Senior Designer and direct access to in-house manufacturing
Involvement in multiple product categories with varied design challenges
A long-term role with scope to grow your creative and technical influence
