About Dalvey
Dalvey is a design-led Scottish brand producing precision-engineered accessories and timepieces for a global audience. Founded in 1897 and based near Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland, we create distinctive products -- from flasks and compasses to wristwatches and barometers -- that blend heritage craftsmanship with bold, contemporary design.
We're a small, focused team designing and manufacturing real products in-house. This is a rare opportunity to work on-site with a luxury brand that combines creative development with technical execution -- from sketch to shelf.
The Role
We're hiring a
Product Designer
-- either at
junior
or
midweight
level -- to work closely with our Senior Designer in the development of a wide variety of physical products.
This is a hands-on, studio-based role with a strong technical component. You'll help bring new products to life, communicating with suppliers, preparing 2D and 3D files, tracking revisions, and contributing to product launches.
We're particularly interested in candidates who are excited by the
range
of what we do: compasses, pocket watches, flasks, barometers, accessories -- and in the opportunities to work with real materials and precision processes.
What You'll Do
Shared responsibilities for both levels:
Use
3D software
(e.g., Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360) to prepare and revise models
Create and adapt
2D files
in Adobe Illustrator for production and packaging
Communicate with component suppliers: email drawings, track changes, manage iterations
Assist with sample reviews and coordinate version control
Organise internal components and technical documentation
Work across a wide range of product categories
Learn and apply Dalvey's distinctive visual and design language
Additional midweight responsibilities may include:
Lead discrete projects from concept to production with light supervision
Proactively improve production workflows and file management
Contribute original product ideas and improvements to existing lines
Support the Senior Designer in mentoring junior colleagues in future
Who We're Looking For
We're open to candidates at different stages of their career. This is a unique opportunity to learn on the ground within a small, design-led team - ideal for someone who wants to invest themselves in a brand, grow with it, and become a lasting part of its story.
You'll need to have:
A background in
Product Design, Industrial Design
, or a closely related discipline
Proficiency in
3D design software
(Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
Experience with
2D vector tools
such as Adobe Illustrator
A
detail-oriented, organised mindset
-- able to track technical detail carefully
A strong sense of ownership and pride in your work
Willingness to
learn on the job
and develop through feedback
A genuine interest in
physical product
, materiality, and brand craftsmanship
On-site availability near Inverness
-- this is not a remote role
Desirable but Not Essential:
A strong eye for photography and visual composition, paired with a passion for digital layout design
Website or social asset creation
Packaging or brand storytelling contributions
What You'll Gain
Mentorship from a highly experienced Senior Designer
Deep exposure to the real-world manufacturing process
Involvement in product design across many categories
Opportunity to grow into a long-term, integral design role
The satisfaction of helping build truly lasting, tangible things
